Hello PNHPWW Members and Supporters
Please find attached the agenda for our PNHPWW December Monthly Meeting, to be held on Wednesday, Dec 21st, 7PM, at the Swedish/Cherry Hill Campus Conference Center Auditorium (directions).
Our speaker and discussion leader will be Steve Auerbach, MD, MPH, FAAP, a graduate of Columbia University Medical School and School of Public Health. He is a pediatrician in New York City, a member of the board of directors of the NY Metro chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program, and an activist with the Doctors for the 99% and Healthcare Working Group of Occupy Wall Street. He has worked as a pediatrician and public health doctor in several areas in the U.S. and abroad for over 20 years, and is co-author over 30 peer-review journal articles. He and his wife Dr. Karen Becker — a family physician and faculty at the Montefiore Residency Program in Social Medicine — live in Manhattan with their two children. Steve was recently interviewed about OWS by Keith Obermann on “Countdown.” Steve will join us via Skype from NYC so will lead off at about 7:10PM.
Attached are a flyer for the meeting (hope to get some Occupy Seattle People to attend), Steve’s slideshow Occupy Healthcare: Changing the American Agenda for the 99%, and a summary article, recommended by Steve, of Jacob Hacker & Paul Pierson’s book “Winner Take All Politics,” on the details of how and why (specific political and other policy choices) inequality got so bad since 1970s.
Also attached is a statement from the Labor Campaign for Single Payer on labor support for the Occupy movements.
